Introduction

Hypothesis: If your hearing deteriorates with age, then older subjects will not be able to hear the higher frequencies as well as the younger ones.

Hey everybody! Thanks for helping out! I am looking into how age and gender affect the range of human hearing at different frequencies. Below you will find several links to tones at increasing frequency. Please adjust your volume to about 50% and go to a quiet room with no background noise. Headphones or earbuds are also recommended. At the end of the test, please record your age and gender. Thank you! 🙂

Procedure

1. Research and choose the frequencies that will be used (Hertz).
2. Choose age groups to be tested. My age groups are listed below.
3. Formulate an efficient way to test the subjects. Examples would include testing in person, via an online app or creating a website, which is what I decided to do.
4. Instruct the test subject to move to a quiet room.
5. Instruct the test subject to put in any headphones they have and turn the volume up to 45%-50%.
6. Instruct the test subject to play each frequency and have them indicate whether they heard it or not.
7. Instruct the test subject to record their gender and their age and submit the test.
8. Use information gathered to make graphs of your research for data analysis.

Age Groups :
9 - 12 years
13 - 18 years
20 - 34 years
35 - 45 years
50 - 65 years
65 + years
